The location:
Where one can be fitted:
Most places! fitting a woodburner to an existing chimney breast is simplest, but if there is no chimney where you would like your woodburner, we can install a steel twinwall insulated flue virtually anywhere.
Surroundings:
If not combustible, there will need to be an air gap between the stove and the wall to allow convection, a minimum of 50mm all round, but more is preferable.
If the wall (or anything else surrounding) is combustible, there is a set distance for each stove which will be detailed in the installation instructions.
A chimney opening can be left as bare brick, lime rendered, lined with smooth fireboard or tiled
Hearth:
The hearth will need to project 300mm from the front of the stove, and at least 150mm from either side of the stove.
It needs to take the weight of the stove and be able to withstand the heat produced. Many stoves can be fitted on a hearth that is just 12.5mm deep.
A hearth can be made from Granite, Slate, Paving slabs, Tiles or even Glass over a carpet with some stoves.
